I'm Francis Bui.
A Mechatronics Engineering student
at the University of Waterloo.

If I'm interested in something, I'll move mountains to get it done. I'm currently working at Formlabs.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Companies I have worked for in the past.

01

Gridspace, Machine Learning Engineer

At Gridspace (behind Siri), I created, researched, fine-tuned, and optimized LLMs. Interlinking ASR, NLP, and various other models into them. Along with custom tooling for B2B use.

02

Taiga Robotics, Machine Learning Engineer

Utilized ROS and explored an open-source robotics development path with PyTorch to accelerate the path from  prototyping to deployment within the realms of computer vision and artificial intelligence.

03

FIRST Robotics, Captain

Took a leadership position within a team, developing software and 3D models that directly correlated to the performance of a 120lb competitive game robot. Over my time with the team, it has risen from the 70th percentile to the 98.9th percentile.

Skillset

With skills in over 4 different fields of robotics, I am the perfect person to hire when it comes to a full fledged project. Whatever your needs are, I would love to take on any challenge.

Mechanical Design

After spending so much time with FIRST Robotics, and working on my side projects. I've learnt to think, iterate, and design outside of the box - becoming very fluent in the engineering design process and SOLIDWORKS.

Controls & Machine Learning

My experience at Gridspace, Taiga Robotics, FIRST Robotics and many of my projects have taught me about the cutting edge on robot control theory and machine learning.

Electrical Systems

In order to successfully create awesome robots and even cooler side projects, I had to learn how to navigate and control electrical systems. This ranges from drone PCB's to analyzing PWM/CAN systems.

Object Oriented Programming

I've always loved programming, and it's usually the part of the development process I look forward to most. I think my tens of thousands of lines on Github repos speak for themselves.
